Trench IV was a sounding placed at the base of the West Mound in 1998on the eastern edge of the modern channel. The intention was to assess at what depth intact Chalcolithic deposits survived. Investigations revealed interdigitation of colluvial and alluvial deposits in the channel section. No further work was conducted
