Rectangular grave, walls (mudbrick 13725, mortar 13752) abutting the cut (13751) directly or with some cm of space in between cut and wall, backfilled with unit 13785. Inside the construction more mixed soil (13727) was underlain by apparently intact grave fill (13737, 13743). With the later we came down to skeleton 13746. Next to it, wood remains (13762) seem to have been part of he coffin since some nails (first x-finds attributed to the fill 13743, later to coffin 13762) seemed to be aligned with it, and one (x4 of 13762) even stuck to it.
The east end of the grave is still in the profile baulk at 690.00E. |
