Feature 3637 is a probably division wall with relationship to F. 3636. F 3637 also abuts the northern wall F. 3626. Wall is made up of brownish mudbrick but has no plaster. Was not excavated.
2014 excavation season: During the excavation in 2014 it appeared that the feature 3637 was made of one, badly preserved brick (U.22000) which had survived in the thickness of 4cm. One can be assumed at the stage that the southern part of the feature indicated the line of the access, linking (Western) Sp.501 and (Eastern) Sp.84 within the mentioned building (see also description of F.3636, U.30196). The brick (U.22000) within the feature was not bonded with the bricks of nearby wall (F.3626) but they were fastened together by mortar utilized to create the structure of the latter wall. It is obvious that the small part of the feature (F.3637) excavated in 2014 must have been the lowest (foundation) part of a higher construction that has not survived. Probably the bricks from upper courses of the structure (F.3637) were bonded with their counterparts within the wall F.3626, creating additional strength of the relatively long construction of F.3626. The aim of such proceeding was to prevent possible collapse and slumping aside. At this stage of research it is important to point out that the upper part of the F.3626 and F.3637 they had been erected simultaneously, as one constructional episode. |
