Unit 10418
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: pit fil
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Discussion: Lower fill of [10413] differentiated from (10415) as it appeared to be a firmer deposit, although material appears to be of same make up, could be base of cut that this horizon /interface represents. Not sure at this stage.
Fill removed and clearer base found, this deposit is loose and loamy and comes down onto one with nush more mud brick and plaster frags, also larger frags, basically a deposit that looks like room fill. This would appear then just to be the lower part of the pit fill, essetially (10418) and (10415) being composed of the same material.
Deliberate infilling of pit with material removed originally from cut
Recognition: appeared firmer to (10415) above
Definition: within cut
Execution: trowel, brush, initially half sectioned
Condition: dry
Consistency: loose
Colour: dark grey brown, occ mottle
Texture: silty loam
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: bone, stone, pot, obsidian, flint, mud brick frags, occ charcoal flecks, plaster frags
Post-depositional Features: root and animal disturbance
