Unit 10701
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: heterogeneous
Dimensions: 33 cm N-S / 74 cm E-W
Discussion: This is an arbitrary unit because there is no clear grave cut. Fill was removed in and around skeleton and considered burial fill. Fil was dry silty clay w/ gravel sized clumps of dirt and some small rocks. Roots and plant remains were found throughout. Skeleton was heavily disturbed by plant activity. Fill was friable, requiring only slight bags of finds from this unit of fill. Burial was also very close to surface which could account for the poor condition of the burial. Unit was recognized as human bone, was uncovered by MAC as he was cleaning the area. It had been discovered last year and was on the plan from then.
Recognition: human bone was discovered; area was explored
Definition: no clear grave cut
Execution: brushes; dental picks; wood tools- done slpwly
