Discussion: Late period (i.e. Roman/Byzantine) burial of young child (8-9 yrs old) discovered when section of trench collapsed revealing left shoulder/ribs & pelvis protruding from section. Unusual burial position, head south and body slightly flexed on right side. Could this be a muslim burial? No grave goods. Skeleton within red mudbrick frame/outline (no brick floor however). No visible pathological lesions. Sex indeterminate. Bone in poor condition due to root action & proximity to surface. Hand / feet bones in good condition.

Body: W-E orientation (head west) slightly on right side
Head: head on the right side (facing south)
Right Arm: slightly flexed /hand over left hand
Left Arm: flexed across stomach / hand on right hip
Right Leg: slightly flexed feet facing south
Left Leg: slightly flexed feet facing south
Other comments: -unusual (?) orientation for this probable late Roman/ Byzantine burial, slightly flexed on right side (Muslim burial?), head south (facing Mecca?)
Surface Modifications: major root damage to bone, proximity to surface has caused bone to dry and crack/ exfoliate
