Discussion: Layer was planned and recorded last year, but remained unexcavated. Because was not free. Now it is. Turned out to be a deeper layer at the front and a skim on top, in effect wrapping itself around the platform. Some mortar in places suggested it may have been attached with mortar (grey flat layers) 

 

Recognition: colour, position 

Definition: clear 

Execution: trowel, hand mattock 

Condition: dry 

Consistency: hard, compacted 

Colour: orangey brown (light) 

Texture: sandy silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: bone, pot. Charcoal fragments 

Post-depositional Features: couple of bunny holes 

Basal Boundary: clear, distinct, regular
