Unit 12142
Category: Skeleton dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Late burial
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: This is a late Roman/Byzantine burial which has been badly disturbed. The upper part of the body is not present. The proximal ulna is the only upper limb part still in situ. Fragments of both hipbones are present. The lower limb bones are highly fragmented but are good indicators of body position. The left foot is surprisingly intact. The right foot is less well-preserved. The burial cut is evident where the bones remain but is not defined in the areas of disturbance (as expected). No grave goods were found in association with this juvenile. The feet and leg elements (i.e. epiphyses) are not fused to the long bone fragments.
