Unit 12963
Category: Layer dug in 2002
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: floor
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: multiple; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: series of floors under re-plastering of lip of platform F2214, rising up over second platform to west. Very degraded, especially to west. Appears to be two or three dirty floors.
These floors sit over construction of F2214 and represent the earliest floors associated with this feature. Platform sealed by 5mm thick black grey clay silt floor, possibly an occupation deposit.
NOTE - As floor rises to the west it is degraded and vertically truncated. The northern extent here may represent a truncation not a real edge.
Note: due to concerns of truncation by the planned new shelter, the western extent of the excavation area was extended. This excavation took in the rest of this layer. Dimensions and total deposit volume have been amended., cf plan 06/657. DHB 21/08/06.
Recognition: Lip of platform to east, wall to south
