Discussion: This is a well preserved hearth placed in central part of Building 62 directly underneath younger hearth recorded as unit 13030. Hence it is an earlier version in a sequence of two hearths associated with occupation of Building 62. The hearth had two solid walls from the north and the west which were c. 0.10 m wide and c. 0.06 m high. The top part of the hearth was not easy to distinguish and in some part of construction of bottom segments of hearth recorded as unit 13030. Infill of the hearth core contained dark browne loose silty clay with a lots of charcoal. There was much less orange/redish burnt clay that constituted a dominant part of the infill of hearth recorded as unit 13030. Some kind of light plastering was observed on poorly preserved eastern wall.
The hearth was constructed on floor of Building 62 (unit 13040). A stration made of a large number of charcoal was placed directly on this floor constructing a bottom part of the hearth. This indicates that the hearth was built on some sort of burnt surface placed directly on the floor which implies reference to an earlier (pre-floor) use of this paryt of the Building markde by burnt layer underneath the floor (unit 13060). Interestingly, both western and northern walls of the hearth were built direclty on a make-up layer underneath the floor (unit 13041) and were probably put in place on the same time when the floor was constructed. This indicates that the heth was and intgegral element of the Building 62 from the very beginning of its use.
