Discussion: It is an infill layer located in the central part of area excavated in 2006. In southern part it is limited by walls recorded as units 13059 and 13088. From the east, the layer was truncated by later cut, a possible foundation trench (feature 1941). Western part of the unit was truncated by Mellaart's excavation. Functionally the unit resembled an infill of above placed layer comprised of a mixed greyish silty sand with mid grey and mid orange components, mainly broken fragments of bricks and other elements of superstructures.
It seems that it was an infill layer which was deposited in a huge cut dug out after abandonment of Building 61 dated back to level II. The cut destroyed southern parts of Buildings 61 and 62.
The reason beyond this deliberate act is unknown. We may speculate that it was intended to collect material for preparing a make-up in some other place. The base of the unit was distinct and slopin from the West (1016.62) to the East (1016.51). The basal boundary in central part was defined on the ground of recording the top of rubble cluster so its form was wavy.
In the east, the layer was deposited on topof an older wall running north-south, along the later one (wall 12274). The unit's basal boundary in its western part easy defined at the level of Building 6 left unexcavated by Mellaart in the 1960's placed directly west from this layer.
