Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous

 

Discussion: Demolition backfill of space 292 - building 67 - finds rich deposit containing eight x-finds and cluster (13418) a large collection of sheep/goat astraguli in association with small flat round river pebbles (game, counting system, or divination tool). The fill comes down onto a dirty floor scoured out to the North (13425).

Frequent charcoal flecks. 

 

Recognition: compact brick crush (demolition) between walls 

Definition: good to North 

Execution: mattock and trowel excavated 

Condition: hot and dry 

Consistency: firm (in places) 

Colour: mid reddish brown with greyish brown motteling 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: occasional quartz and small stones, faceted smokey quartz; moderate schizt fragments; single fragment of daub with wattle impression; 1 fragment of blue ore (cobalt?); occasional obsidian flakes; moderate pottery; moderate stone (including flat polished stone); frequent animal bone including articulated bird wing and cluster (13418) sheep knuckle bones 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: flat - onto dirt floor
