Interpretive Categories: plaster layers 

 

Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)

 

Discussion: Plaster layered on platform - very thick layers removed as single unit. (0.01m to 0.06m thick). Three layers, two thick white layers with a grey plaster band at center (see above) and a dirty grey floor just above. A white plaster floor below. Red flecks of paint occurred but were sporadic could not be followed - removal of these layeres revealed wall painting on west facing wall.

*The platform would appear to have been painted red during several phases - the plaster layers this high in the sequence appear thicker than those in the layers below. 

 

Recognition: plaster layers covering platform F. 2225 

Definition: good - truncated north and to west 

Execution: trowel excavated 

Condition: hot and dry 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: white and grey 

Texture: clay plaster 

Bedding: layered 

Inclusions: occassional red paint flecks; occassional charcoal flecks 

Post-depositional Features: burial cuts [13010] and [12998] 

Basal Boundary: good - starts onto white plaster
