Unit 1363
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: floor,platform
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: white clay; Deposition: multiple; Basal Spit: painted
Dimensions: 1.40 x 1.40 x 0.13 cm
Discussion: Latest plaster surface of platform; upon removal, earlier sequence exposed; it seems ashy the 'earliest' may have been of similar size to the latest and plain white with no traces of red paint; then a 'middle' phase of very thick plastering with at least -2 main sub-phases of red paint - this phase saw an enlargement of the platform by ~20 cm & this has lost all its upper surface; both earlier phases are truncated by the last/this phase. So the sequence as it appear now, is original size, & again plain. Contemporary with (1359).

Unit description: Unit consists of 2 pieces of rib: 1 sheep-size, 1 pig-size; plus one sheep/goat third phalanx. One rib is quite weathered, the other not; the phalanx is moderately weathered. No burning. X4 is a virtually complete point on a tibia splinter. X7 is a split proximal metacarpal point. 100% of 4mm flotation processed. 4mm flotation sorted and recorded completely. Sample 1 has 5 tiny scraps of sheep-size bone, one calcined. Sample 6 is only slightly larger and similar in composition, including 3 small mandible fragments (sheep-size). One burnt fragment. Sample 16 is also small, and consists of small pieces of mostly sheep-size scrap. One is burnt. Most are quite fresh. Looks like untrampled floor; I suppose bits plastered into the platform. Were they lying around, or part of the plaster mix? Last number = 24Figurine Records: No GroundStone Records: No Heavy Residue Records: No Microfaunal Records: No
