Discussion: This unit contains two soils. An upper one (dep.1) and lower (dep.2). We decided to collect them as one unit in E. half of Feature14. May be they should be collected as two units in W. half.
Start W/N-S cross. Section through middle of feature. Dig E. half first cross-section from little E-W wall in S. to floor of Space 71 in N. After 5 cm depth can see that highly burned earth is concentrated in centre with softer brown fill around it. Burned earth is bright red. Definite unburned clay edge but can't see how thick it is yet. The red burned area of the fill is associated. W/larger (5cm) pieces of? wall rubble. Pit bottoms- out at 10 cm in north soil ids redder. Came rubble blocks up at 5 cm depth. Below this soil is clean of inclusions but redder (burned at oxidising).W/ash lens running through at 7 cm depth. In north can see white lens (1mm thick) at interface of bottom of fill and edge of pit.
