Unit 14221
Category: Layer dug in 2007
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: grave fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: heterogeneous
Dimensions: 2.4 x 0.7 at east end x 0.3m at west end
Discussion: Deposit identified as sediment between brick walls. No burial cut in the true sense was ever identified, but human bones had turned up in layer above (14219), and seemed to respect the brick wall ((14227 + 14228). So a separate number was taken out for it. No articulated bones were ever found, and no bones existed in western half of grave. Thus it appears that the grave was never used/was emptied at some point. Brick walls are fairly messed about by rodents, possibly by subsequent intrusion as well - thus the latter option of grave robbing seems likely.
