Interpretive Categories: post removal pit

Data Category Information: Description: pit

Dimensions: 1.10x0.94x0.57

Discussion: Pit was dug to remove a post from south wall of B59.The post scar seen on the wall ranges ranges from 0.55m at low point to 0.38m at the highest point of the scar. These dimensions may indicate the shape of the post. A bigger post scar/post is located 0.50m to the east. Structurally this post probably supported the south wall with this post, but also its central location indicates that it could have worked in conjunction with cut 14611, which may have contained a post, and the n-s partition wall, to support the central part of the roof.

Recognition: Post scar and disturbed sub oval ground beneath it.
