Unit 15179
Category: Layer dug in 2010
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: Byzantine pit fill
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: 2,4m EW - 1,5m NS (maximum) - 0,45-0,5m deep
Discussion: Upper layer of fill in (Byzantine) pit F.3331. Reddish and very loose fill, contained charcoal, 12 fragments of til, medium sized stone and one large stone, Byzantine and Chalcolithic sherds and other Chalcolithic artefacts (obsidian, bone tools, flint). Upper part of pit cut and fill not recognised, removed as 15165 together with original fill of Space 310 - too disturbed to recognise the pit. In lower level very clearly distinguishable from room fill U.15176. Lower parts of unit contained stray human bones and three clusters of human bones (15189, 15192, 15199). Unit stopped shortly underneath that level, as different, mixed part fill started to appear (15195). Part of pit outside trench borders.
NOTED THAT TOTAL STATION POINTS TAKEN ON 18.8. ARE INCORRECT - THIS CONCERNS LEVEL FOR THIS UNIT - WILL BE FIXED LATER, INSCHA'ALLAH.
