Discussion: This burial appears to be disturbed by both animal acitivity and surface erosion, as it was located in the first 10 to 40cm of the top soil. The following elements were disturbed: skull, cervical and thoracic vertebrae, ribs, both humeri, sternum, left scapulae and clavicle, metatarsals and foot phalanges. These elements were found around the skeleton (undisturbed) or above undisturbed elements. Some of these upper body elements seems to be roughly around other related elements anatomically - this may indicate thar the upper body may have been disturbed by forces while soft tissue was still on some elements connecting them, They must have also been later disturbances as well. The lower body was articulated from the lumbar vertebrae down to the feet, including both hands and right forearm. The right forearm was flexed across the body and pronated where the right hand was placed on the left hip. The left hand is also pronated over the right hip. The feet are slightly disturbed, probably from animal activity. The tibia is rotated 180 degrees and on top of the right tibia. This is confusing on how this is the only long bone disturbed - even the left fibula was anatomically positioned correctly. This burial was excavated in layers, as the upper body was directly on top of the undisturbed lower body, It is located above and on the southern section of Space 342.

in 2012, J. Brynes removed the skeleton that lay in T5; on opening T5 in 2013, teeth and sternum were discovered while cleaning the W section. The cut was visible only in the north (and patchy there). The rest of th ecut was arbitrarily defined during excavation. The remeining skeleton was esposed, photoed and removed after the poor state of presevation was clear, fill in the vicinty of skel. Will be floated (~60 L), but upper fill (presumably) was mixed with topsoil and too great a volume, so this was only sieved.

Body: supine, extended, upper body disturbed, EW oriented

Head: head in west, disturbed, face to north

Right Arm: humerus disturbed, forearm and hand flexed across to left hip, pronated

Left Arm: humerus and ulna disturbed, hand pronated on right hip

Right Leg: extended straight

Left Leg: extended straight, tibia disturbed on right tibia

Other comments: feet were slightly disturbed, mainly metatarsal and phalanges. Left tibia was rotated 180 degrees and on top of undisturbed right tibia. Fibulas were in correct position. JHB 29.07.2013: severely disturbed, the rest was exc. By J. Byrnes in 2012; this sheet covers the remains found in the W profile of T5.
