Unit 16876
Category: Layer dug in 2008
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: Mortar
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: TEB 28.07.08:
Mortar in mudbrick wall F.2408, the northern wall of space 310.
JMR 23.08.10:
The upper part of wall F. 2408 was taken off on 23.8.10 for reasons of stability and some mortar collected for identification of inclusions through flotation.
KTX 2012: Thi unit represents the mortar material of wall F.2408. It is clearly visible in both the wall face as well as in plan view. When excavating it is generally useful to remove one or several brick layers by 'hitting' into the mortar, which allows the exposure of the top of the underlying bricks. The mortar is applied quite regularly in layers of 2-4cm. The unit was not screened separately from the mudbrick, but samples. Some stones and potsherds were found stuck in the mortar, but collected with the mudbrick.
