Discussion: Unit 17261 was the cleaning and straightening of the western wall (F.3344) of room 107 (in space 343) from the southern wall (F.2426/3304) and the buttress (3356/3355). It was hoped that such a cleaning would illuminate the wall's lower course/phase. However, the lower course of the southern half of the western wall seems to be made of nearly sterile, fine grained dirt above a room fill rich with finds (a continuation of U.16995?) 

Recognition: straightning the face of F.3344 

Definition: the stretch of F.3344 between F.2426/3304 and 3356/3355 

Execution: small pick, trowel, dustpan, brush 

Condition: hut but with patches of cool, dump of weather 

Consistency: loose, with patches of firmer mud brick 

Colour: grey brown 

Texture: silty sand 

Bedding: heterogeneous - loose fill with patches of firm mud brick and many inclusions 

Inclusions: pottery, animal bones, ground stone, mud brick, plaster, burned mud brick, figurine 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows, plant roots 

Basal Boundary: flat, arbitrary 

Dry sieve volume: 97 

Total Deposit Volume: 97
