Discussion: This is the Northern pilaster of the wall on N-S alignment in E part of the trench (U. 17683). It is contemporary and functionally associated with the southern pilaster (U. 17676) of the same wall. Their presence may indicate the internal character of yet unspecified space as they may have probably been set to support the roof or the wall construction. Unit 17675 is a lower part of pilaster (7809) which was excavated in 2004 season. The pilaster was rectangular in shape and consisted of 3 courses of bricks. The first course comprised of two large bricks oriented E-W. Their dimentions are as folows: the southern brick: 0.68x0.40x0.04; the northern one: 0.60x0.30x0.05.
The second course was not placed directly below the first one, but was attached to the face of the wall. It consisted of one large brick oriented N-S (0.73x0.45x0.07m). Its colour was different (dark brown) as compared to the bricks thet were lying above. The third course consisted of two bricks (E-W). The southern bricks dimentions were: 0.40x0.37x0.07, while the norhern one: 0.40x0.37x0.07. Bricks were joined together by a relatively thick (4cm) mortar whcich wasn't recorded as a separate unit.
