Unit 18120
Category: Cut dug in 2006
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: basin,post-retrieval pit
Data Category Information: Description: posthole
Discussion: Number assigned during post-excavation 2009, although according to excavator's records this feature was not bottomed. The excavator records the excavated deposits as re-deposited plaster, and did not identify this featue as a post retrieval pit. The photographs showing the units (which are now interpreted as fills) are not clear cut - but may represent slumping plaster from the adjacent walls. On the hand this cut may represent a basin, with the plaster actually lining the feature. The location of this cut however, up against the north wall does seem to favour the post-retrieval pit interpretation. The original stratigraphic sequence established by the excavator had the 'fills' under plus and over 13219. Having looked at the digitised plans there is an overlay between the 'fills' and floor 13202. This may have been a planing error? So have not tampered with the strat relationships. There is no plan of this feature - 18120, and no levels.
