Discussion: This unit was assigned to a charcoal fill which was first assumed to belong to a posthole fill. However, we can now see that this fill is actually crumbled charcoal bits that have come off of an in situ timber that must have landed unto the N.E. platform (F. 3441) during a burning event (perhaps connected to the timbers excavated from the builing in the 2009 season). The specimen has now been identified as juniper.
