Unit 19051
Category: Layer dug in 2010
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Wall painting
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: plaster; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: painted
Description: geometric wall painting.
Discussion: Geometric design on eastern wall F. 3095. Above platform F 6051 on middle panel. The upper and lower parts of the wall seem to have been destroyed, so it was only possible to trace the wall painting on the middle panel. The painting consists of a repeated red and black geometric pattern, where the red is best preserved. The black pattern is highly fragmented, and the black is primarily visible as grey negative impressions. The painting was covered by between 10-15 layers of white/grey plaster, but some of the layers are so thin it is difficult to separate them properly. \Because of the fragmented state of the wall, it is uncertain whether the painting extended beyond the exposed area, but it is certain that it did go a bit further down originally.
