Unit 19193
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Plaster floor & make up
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: pedestal/podium/plinth; Material: white clay; Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation); Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: Plaster surface on platform 7411 with thick make-up layer below. Plaster is quite thin in places-especially towards the western edge of the plat. Suggesting heavier use on this side. Make up layer was also thicker on this edge were the platform slumps slight were the platform slumps slightly into centre of the building. Both deposits were remarkably sterile & 2 buckets were sieved yielding no finds be here the remainder of the deposit was dumped.
The western edge of the deposit was not plastered over suggesting that either this had worn away, the edge was somehow truncated or perhaps it was deliberately not plastered.
As deposit below (u19195) is probably the same as 19186 to the west, this deposit (19193) is the first action to build a platform in this area.
