Unit 19441
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: mudbrick
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: An archive sample was taken of a brick in wall F.3623, because it was supposed to be excavated, but the interpretation changed. The wall appears to be older than wall F.3624, previously recognised as the earlier one.
Further excavation in 2013:
The unit was associated with mortar U.20675.
During the execution of the wall F.3623 it was possible to record 12 courses of the bricks in the highest point of the Southern wall of Sp.489 (S-E corner). The described building material was uncovered in good condition that allowed to distinguish particular components of the wall and record their dimensions. The heights of the bricks evaluated from 8-7.5 cm, their width oscillated between 30 and 32cm and length 87-90cm. Additionally, within the wall there were also half-size components evidenced, and their use was involved probably with an attempt to maintain subsequent order in the particular courses.
