Interpretive Categories: burial infill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial
Dimensions: EW 1.20 X NS 0.30 cm x 0.10 m
Discussion: This layer represents the burial infill of a late period skeleton, which appears to be a juevenile. It is a brownish grey clay/silt material in a rectangular EW oriented cut. On top of this level was a darker grey clay layer which was placed on top of the burial, although most of the bones were in the light grey fill. Additionally there was some reddish brown clay material around the skull area, possibly from neolithic deposits. There was a rodent burrow in the fill near the leg area that resulted in a missing femur. A metal rebar stake was placed into the grave during modern times (excavations) that broke the humerus. Parts of the fill had plaster inclusions, as well as charcoal. Rodent bone was found in the fill, but the vast majority was human bone.
