Discussion: We excavated pit infill, possibly a burial although as of yet we have not found any remains. There is evidence of a compression fill - the top layer of fill was "neater" than the rest and looked like make-up. We were only able to explore about half of the fill because of the section line in our building that splits our pit (cannot excavate past/south of the section line). 

 

Recognition: Color, consistency 

Definition: Clear 

Execution: Trowel, leaf trowel 

Condition: Hot, under shelter 

Consistency: Firm 

Colour: Mid brown with specks of white & orange, some mid white (plaster) 

Texture: Silty Clay 

Bedding: Massive, possible compression fill (layer of make-up then infill) 

Inclusions: Charcoal, seeds, obsidian 

Post-depositional Features:  

Basal Boundary: Clear; pit may extend further but stopped approx. 8 cm in because the fill looked a bit different
