Plaster on middle wall of w. wall of B.80.
Discussion: Wall plaster in the middle panel of B.80's west wall (F.5036). The wall plaster was consolidated in the previous season due to its fragile nature & the extensive charring. There is apporximatel 30 layers of plaster applied to the wall. The plaster is more stable & less damaged towards the base, but very damages towards towards the top. There is evidence of paint on this panel. A thin line (1cmx0.5cm) can be seen 28cm from the base. The paint is 5 layers from the surface but nothing else can be seen on that layer & the colour is bright red. There is more evidence for painting of the wall towards the top of the panel on & around the incised rail. This is consistent with the paint found in the same area on the eastern wall of B.80 (F.5014). This paint is approximately 25 layers from the surface of the plaster & its shade of red is slightly darker. Uncovering more of the paint is problematic because the consolidation has bound the plaster together and hardened the remains.
