Unit 2021
Category: layer dug in 1997
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: platform surface
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mixed; Deposition: composite (floor/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Dimensions: 1.05m x 30m x 0.10 m
Discussion: the surface layer of platform F86. Exposed after removal of wall F85 in south-west corner of 112. No evidence of a grave cut through this deposit.
surface smooth + faced with white plaster over a greyish makeup. slopes down from W to E, where limit of platform hard to distinguish. matrix shows sequence of deposits in platform and wall but at same point cuts were made for burials 1885 and 2033 (F84); the former was thought to cut (2025) below (2021), but may be earlier; the latter definitely predates (2025). the platform surface to the N has been lost but burial F.83 (skeleton 1884) was presumably also cut through or overlain by the equivalent of (2021) + (2025).
