Unit 20289
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: pit infill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: basin; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This is an infill of a small post-neolithic pit (F.3969). It was recognised in the 2012 excavation season. We expected that it would be shallow, as workers have removed some soil from its top. Unexpectedly it turned out to be quite deep.
During the exploration, the pit's soil changed colour from light brown to brown with orange spots. On the E side an orange-yellow brick (?) appeared. The infill was homogenous with some finds such as pottery, animal bones, ground stones and a few obsidian flakes. There were also single fragments of green mineral.
In SW part of the pit some bones appeared which were very similar to those from dog skeleton (F.3997), excavated a few days earlier.
We also found a new pit in our cut (u.20290), so we decided to close this unit and open a new in next days. At the bottom of the cut, we found another unspecified cut.
