Unit 20608
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Fill, arbitrary layer
Data Category Information: Location: feature
Discussion: The unit is assigned as arbitrary, because the stratigraphical relation is lost. No cut was seen and it might be possible that this information has been lost through time. This fill is basically similar in character as room fill U20481, but, however, found in association with Sk. 20609. It is also looser and colourwise more homogenic. Excavated with Sk. 20609 and with trowel when cleaned up (see description for feature 3691).
It was assigned its own unit number mainly because its association with Sk.20609. Even though similar to room fill 20481 above, its looser essence and close connection to skeleton, it could be possible it was originally a cut present, forming a formal burial. Supposing that it also means that the people deposited the skeleton in the same soil as would be the room fill, which is also hard to see, because it is in the bottom of the fill close to the next level.
