Unit 20846
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Burial fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: This unit represents the fill associated with subadult burial f. 7012, one of a sequence of burials in eastern platform f. 3508. It was recognized after the removal of u. 20845 (a plaster layer on top of the platform) as a dark grey, heterogenous semicircle in plan, and the layers of floor in platform f. 3508 were our guide in section for removing this unit, at least for the first 5 cm, at which point the platform seems to be composed of fill. The burial fill was quite compact and furthermore indistinguishable from the fills of surrounding burials in the platform.
Consistency: Compact
Colour: Grey-heterogeneous (some orange spots, white patches)
Texture: Clay loam
