Unit 20869

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: South

Interpretive Categories: Painted Plaster

Data Category Information: Location: wall/blocking

Description: Geometric Painting, lattice-like in design. The pattern occurs both vertically and at an approx. 15 degree angle along F.4092. There are the remains of at least 17 different coloumns along the length of the wall.

Discussion: The unit is easily identified by the painted pattern, which is similar to others found on site - including the geometic painting in B.77 (F.3095). The painted surface occurs primarily as one event, however there are sections (less than 5cm square) in the central section of the wall the appear to be repair work. The paint layer is very thin and the plaster compact making it difficult to expose the painting.
