Interpretive Categories: Burial fill

Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial

Discussion: The cut for this fill was partially recognized when platform F. 6062 was scraped and cleaned. The depression in the middle of the platform which correlates with the unit boundary was removed with a leaf trowel. The fill itself contained disarticulated human bones belonging to at least two individuals (one baby and one juvenile). The bones were affected by heat - presumably the fire of the building. No bones were found in articulation. One relatively well preserved skull was given a unit number (20983). Another skull was located to the south of the fill but was not given a number due to its very poor preservation. The material will be evaluated in the human remains lab. The very poor preservation and large number of disarticulated human bones suggest the burial was disturbed by later activity - possibly mostly by animals.
