Unit 20997
Category: Cut dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Burial cut
Data Category Information: Description: burial
Discussion: This cut was recognized beneath the burial fill u.20991 and Sk 20998. It was very regular and quite symmetrical; in that sense easy to follow. It was quite deep (0,14 cm) and contained a baby which leant on its slope (see disc Sk20998). It was made for the burial of a Neolithic baby individual and presumably carefully so, judging by its symmetry and sharp slope breaks. The cut was made in the underlying F3699, a basin. Specifically it was made when they remodelled this feature (see feature discussion).
Shape: Oval, slightly semirectangular
Sides: Vertical and steep
Base Break: Sharp
Base: Flat base, which was disturbed by rodent unfortunately
Orientation: E-W
