Unit 21103

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: Floor layers and makeup layers,Upper part of midden

Data Category Information: Location: in abandoned building; Deposition: finely bedded

Description: Composition of several layers, clear division between sandy silt layers and charchoal layers.

Discussion: (The midden) U21103 was identified as a dark black-grey heterogenous patch containing charcoal, buliding materials etc. U21103 was identified as a midden due to the colour, texture and findings. The midden is defined/identified by a wall in the south (F7103, F7326) and a filling layer of different texture, colour and caracter in the north (U21128). To the east the extention of the midden is unclear since it was not fully excavated due to the end of the trench and the shelter. In the West the midden was cut by two later graves (F3689 and F3685) and by the foundation trench (F7338).
The unit was excavated using hoe and trowel.
