Unit 21119
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: eroded wall material
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick&mortar; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: Partially excavated in 2014.
Discussion: U. 21119 (f. 7326) represents a more highly eroded portion of the double wall (f. 7103- for which separate elevations have been taken, see plan). This feature relates to every other feature/ unit in this space as the primary mover- first the double wall was constructed, then refuse was dumped over the wall to create the midden (u. 21103), the midden was cut in order to create a builder's trench and subsequently a butress (u. 21143) to support the western wall that bounds sp. 99 and finally both the butress and the midden were dug through in order to create grave cuts for the post-neolithic burials (f. 3685 and f. 3689). U. 21119 was only partially excavated with a trowel and brush due to it being the oldest and deppest deposited feature in the space, nessecitating that we remove the midden, butress, and multiple infill/ midden layers in order to remove this wall properly.
Consistency: soft- baked clay bricks which have become brittle and crumbly
Colour: gray and light yellow brown- admixture of ashy mortar and degraded/ eroded brick produces two different pigments
Texture: silty clay loam- inherently clay-y material with mixtures of extremely fine sediements
Bedding: massive, no coherent break from brick to mortar
Inclusions: seeds (small, spherical, tan in color)
Post-depositional Features: bioturbation (rodent burroughs)
Basal Boundary: arbitrary- indeterminate due to highly eroded nature of brick and mortar

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
