Unit 21373

Category: Cut    dug in 2014

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: cut of scoop F.7589

Data Category Information: Description: scoop

Discussion: Determination of scoop F.7589 was at first very uncertain. Indeed infill u.21374 is not very black, ashy or rich in charcoal compared to the other scoops surrounding hearth F.1482.

Only its excavation provides undoubtable proof for the existence of scoop F.7589. In particular with the exposure of cut u.21373.

Scoop F.7589 is very shallow compared to other scoops. Situated next to the most eroded part of the hearth F.1482 it is possible that all the top part of scoop F.7589 was also eroded. The top of cut u.213713 is thus maybe truncated by the erosion (8 years after the exposure of F.1352) which would explain its shallowness and its shape. But this is not possible to be verified in the field.
