Unit 21377
Category: Cut dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Cut of scoop F.7597
Data Category Information: Description: scoop
Discussion: Scoop F.7597 has been recognized during the cleaning of floor F.2176 and the removing of the patches of remaining plaster (after 8 years of erosion) u.21311, like all of the other scoops of the constellation surrounding the hearth F.1482.
The cut u.21377 has an irregular/ovoid shape (almost like two circles cutting each other; but only one cut and one homogenous infill was recognized during the excavation… it seems thus to be only one scoop).
It is very shallow and ends at its base and a stone running below it… Maybe this stone is the reason of such a shallow scoop. The extent and the nature of this stone will have to be looked at when the infill u.30539 of floor F.2176 will be removed.
Shape: Irregular/ovoid
Sides: Vertical
Base Break: Right angled/sharp
Base: Irregular - smooth stone on most of the base
Orientation: More or less E-W
