Unit 21522
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Infill of burial cut U.21523
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This burial pit lies to the west of Sp.87 and against its south wall. The edge of the cut is well-defined in its W side, but faint towards the E. The pit was filled with a homogeneous silty clay sediment, rich in charcoal in the top 10-15cm of the deposit. A broken groundstone (X1) was found lying next to the right foot of the only skeleton buried in this feature (U.21550), a young adult female. A small fragment of charcoal (ca.3 cm length) has been collected from under the left arm of this individual, and taken as sample S6.
No layering was visible in the infill. This fact, together with the homogeneity of the sediment and the fact that only one skeleton was found in this cut (primary deposition) suggest that this was one burial event.
