Unit 21596

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: Red painted plaster in S wall grooves

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster); Basal Spit: painted

Discussion: The south wall of this space contains three negative grooves: one circle and two long ridges. The grooves were coated in at least 2 layers of plaster painted red. There is evidence for bioturbation and erosion (post-exposure) of this feature, which is currently at the very top of the building wall.

This feature probably served as decoration, alongside with the red-painted niche located within this same S wall undercut.

Not excavated in 2014.
