Unit 21656
Category: Skeleton dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Primary
Data Category Information: none
Description: Targets used:
A - 41, B - 42, C - 43, D - 1.
Discussion: A child skeleton in a supine flexed position with both upper limbs flexed at the elbow on the torso. The lower limbs were both tightly flexed and on rotated to right side of the torso. The cephalic externity was rotated to the right and flexed. A perforated (two holes) worked shell 'gorget' was found beneath and in direct contact with the right side of the cranium, apex up. Only partial foot elements were recovered and the hands were also represented. This would indicate that this was a primary burial, but that the extremities may not have been complete when this individual was deposited. Stains of what may have been a textile was recovered and sampled. This child was deposited immediately on top of an adult sk.21657.
