Unit 2191

Category: cut    dug in 1997

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: burial pit,soil discolouration

Data Category Information: Description: burial

Dimensions: 0.24m by 0.24m by 0.10m

Discussion: Soil difference around skeleton was interpreted as the fill of a cut - however the edges were never very clear and there is some doubt over the veracity of this 'cut' - as with the others nearby. Soil difference could relate to body staining etc., on the one hand while on the other, if the cut was made in a fresh deposit (2181) its edges would not necessarily be very distinct. The presence of a cut must remain ambiguous (GML).
