Discussion: We excavated this white soapy stuff around bull horn because it looked as though it is another bukranion. This unit was excavated to the East wall of Space 86 anticipating that it may be in situ, mounted in the wall, however, no attachment was found. There seem to be some wall mouldings as well in this area. At the tip of the bukranion is a lump of gypsum and a number of small bright green pebbles. When Wendy was asked about this, she said that these green pebbles naturally occur in the clays of this region, leading one excavator, (ie. Mira, who had also seen green pebbles near the white monster) to conclude that they are not special pebbles, but simply part of these natural clays.

Unit description: Unit describes a horn core (found in 1997, lifted 1998), which seems to come out of east wall of building 3 (looked set horizontally into the wall in 1997, but they weren't all the way back), and overlies platform feature 170. Horn core is X1. Deposit around horn core = flotation sample. NR 2002: Apparently some other bone was handpicked or dry sieved from this unit. I have recorded this and the sample 2 >4mm flotation, 100% sorted and recorded completely. The dry-sieved material contains a few bits of horn core, not all of which may be from the big one, and a few odd bits of sheep-size scrap that look to be coming from fill, or maybe a tiny sample of midden, since the surface condition is good. Sample 2 is fairly small and also contains a few horn core crumbles, these all most likely from X1. Otherwise it looks more definitively like fill, with mostly small crumbles of scrap, variably worn. There is also a little fish. Last number = 29
