Unit 22197
Category: Skeleton dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: skeleton
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: During the excavation of burial F3813 the anthropologists present on site established that the bones of at least 2 individuals were buried there. Therefore, waiting for a more accurate analysis in the human remains lab., Sk 22197 refers to the skull only. The rest of the bones have been attributed to the infill (32207).
The skull belongs to a juvenile individual.
Most of the bones are not in anatomical connection, which probably means that the body was mainly defleshed when put in this position. The only exception is the spine: the vertebrae are in fact still connected.
This mean that Sk22197 might be related to a primary loose deposition or a to secondary one. In the first case the human remains of one (or more) primary depositions might have been displaced from their original position, most likely when the cut (22193) of the overlying burial F3808 intercepted F3813; in the second case the dismembered bodies of at least 2 individuals previously buried somewhere else might have been buried here once their body were defleshed
