Discussion: Visible underneath U22202, which was scaly, where as this U is completely loose and very smooth. I believe this unit to be a makeup layer for floor U22202, because of its location just underneath the floor and immidiately on top of oven foundation.

Noteable is the pieces of charcoal that were found in the layer, which, for a while, made me think of it as a possible usage layer. The position and overall composition of the layer made me eventually settle for the idea of the layer as makeup for the floor.

Excavated by leaf trowel. 

Consistency: Soft 

Colour: Redish brown 

Texture: silty sand 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Organic remains, charcoal

Basal Boundary: Constructional,very sharp, distinct, smooth
