Unit 22619
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This unit represents the fill put in to cover sk. 22618 after burial near the north wall of B.129. It is quite different in appearance from the surrounding context of u. 22617 (room fill). The texture is very loose, though due to the age of the child buried and to the construction of the walkway over this burial a great deal of fragmented human bone was found amid the fill. It was excavated by bamboo and puffer. It contained many shell beads throughout the deposit and was clearly originally organics-rich, as there was evidence for ancient root growing within the boundaries of this unit but not outside (within the surrounding context of . 22617).
Consistency: loose
Colour: dark grey
Texture: sandy clay loam
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: burnt clay, pebbles, charcoal, plaster (inc. painted)
Post-depositional Features: construction of touristic walkway above
Basal Boundary: clear - laid into cut (u22622), boundary w. orange infill u. 26617 apparent
