Unit 22620
Category: Skeleton dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: primary
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Skeleton of mature individual of indeterminate sex was nearly complete except for missing cervical vertebrae and some right arm and left forearm, wrist, and hand bones which were removed by post-depositional taphonomic disturbance. Individual was lying prone in a flexed position with abdomen over tightly flexed lower limbs. Right hand and wrist were supinated between the spinal column and the midshaft right femur. A corroded native copper "ring" found under the right fingers had stained nearby bones green. "Strung" beads were found around both wrists and ankles, and a few were found in the neck region. It appears that this primary burial and sk. 22655 were placed in this cut in the same deposition event, since elements of disarticulated sk. 22655 rest directly on elements of 22620. A plaster slab of wall (multi-layer, with red paint) seems to have slid into this burial, partially covering the left leg and foot of sk. 22620.
